“What happens when older white politicians make medical decisions that don’t affect them but kill women?”

American tennis legend Martina Navratilova has come forward again and raised her voice against abortion laws in the United States.

Earlier this year, the United States Supreme Court overturned the “1973 Roe v. Wade judgment” by a 6-3 majority. The abortion rights decision was made in June, leaving all 50 states of the country to decide whether or not to ban abortion.

Most conservative Republican-ruled states immediately made abortions illegal. Prior to the critical judgment, abortion was a constitutional right and American women had the choice to obtain one during the first 24 weeks of pregnancy.

On Friday, community organizer and environmentalist Renee Gasch, who is running as a Democrat for Wisconsin State Assembly District 2, revealed details of her recent appointment with her obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN ). She said authorities made it even harder by banning drugs that soften the cervix and make the insertion of intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUDs) less painful. An IUD is a small plastic T-shaped device used to prevent pregnancy.

“Today was my first OBGYN appointment since the GOP banned abortion care in Wisconsin. I learned that the drugs used to soften the cervix and make the inserts of Less painful IUDs are no longer an option as they are also used in abortions. Not only is the GOP taking away our rights, they are making us suffer more,” Gasch tweeted.

Wisconsin is among the states that have banned women from having abortions. Wisconsin residents look to their neighboring states like Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois, where the process is legal.

Former world number one Navratilova responded to Gasch’s tweet, expressing her anger at older politicians making decisions for young women.

“Cruelty is the point. What also happens when older white politicians make medical decisions that don’t affect them at all and actually kill women,” Martina Navratilova wrote.

Following Rafael Nadal’s shock loss to Frances Tiafoe in the fourth round of the 2022 US Open earlier this week, one fan has claimed that Martina Navratilova doesn’t like the Spaniard.

The 18-time Grand Slam winner, calling the match, was quick to quash the fan statement, saying she loved Nadal and was sad he lost.

“What are you talking about? I love Rafa, and what’s not to love? Happy for Francis, sad for Rafa. Pull yourself together,” she tweeted.

Tiafoe is the only player to beat Nadal in the Majors this year. However, the 24-year-old American fell to fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in Friday’s semi-final. Alcaraz will face Norway’s Casper Ruud for the title on Sunday.
