Hyderabad: Taking umbrage at Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan’s remarks against the state government, IT and Industry Minister KT Rama Rao on Thursday claimed that the Telangana government and the TRS have immense respect for the office of the governor. “The state government has never insulted Tamilisai Soundararajan and if she feels that way it is pure imagination,” he said.
“We have never disrespected the governor. We have always shown him due respect on all occasions, but Tamilisai Soundararajan should also play the role and behave like a governor,” he said, speaking to the media during his visit to Sircilla on Thursday. .
The minister said it was inappropriate for the governor to say she was being targeted after he rejected Padi Kaushik Reddy’s nomination for the MLC post because of his political background. He pointed out that Tamilisai Soundararajan herself had served as BJP chairwoman in Tamil Nadu state before her appointment as governor. “How is it justifiable that someone with a political background can be appointed governor but the same standard cannot be applied for another to be appointed MLC within the governor’s quota?” he asked.
Emphasizing that the state government never had any problems with ESL Narasimhan when he was governor, the minister said that the state government similarly has no problem with Tamilisai Soundarajan. “We can’t help it if she thinks she has problems with her government. If she thinks she was insulted, she should clarify when, where and how she was really insulted,” he said, adding that the BJP government in the Center was known to use such diversionary tactics when ‘he could not solve the current problems. .
