SP releases list of 10 candidates, Rajesh Pratap Rao gets ticket from Kushinagar HQ

New Delhi: The Samajwadi Party on Tuesday released another list of candidates for the seven-phase Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections due to start on February 10.

In its list of 10 candidates, the SP presented Rajesh Pratap Rao from Kushinagar constituency and Jai Prakash Anchal from Bairiya constituency in Ballia district. Other names included in the list are Rajendra Chaudhary, Mahendra Yadav, Parshuram Nishad, Uday Narayan Gupta, Pintu Sainthwar, Vijay Rawat, Sudhakar Singh and Manoj Singh W.

The SP had also released a list of 24 candidates on Monday in which the party lined up Sabhawati Shukla of Gorakhpur constituency against UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

Meanwhile, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav also held a joint press conference with West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in Lucknow during which she called on UP residents to vote for Akhilesh Yadav.

Banerjee urged UP residents not to fall for BJP’s “false promises”. “I urge you all to support Samajwadi party and make it win, defeat the BJP. Don’t fall for the false promises made by BJP…” she said.

Elections to the Uttar Pradesh assembly will be held in seven phases starting February 10. The second phase will take place on February 14, the third phase on February 20, the fourth phase on February 23, the fifth phase on February 27, the sixth phase on March 3, and the seventh and final phase on March 7. The election results will be announced on March 10.
