Reds chairman Phil Castellini turns blue as he hosts fundraiser for KY’s Democratic congressional candidate
The president and COO of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team endorses a congressional candidate from Kentucky.
Billionaire Phil Castellini is hosting a fundraiser for Democratic 4th District congressional candidate Matthew Lehman, who is challenging Republican incumbent US Representative Thomas Massie.
The fundraiser takes place in Covington, Kentucky, by invitation.
Lehman is a technology and pharmaceutical entrepreneur. His company Koligo is a startup working to expand access to pancreatic islet transplants, reduce or eliminate opioid addiction, and improve quality of life for chronic pancreatitis. They are working to develop the next generation of engineered cell transplant technologies.
Lehman holds a Master of Science degree from Columbia University in New York and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Louisville, Kentucky. He grew up and left two other health tech start-ups.
Massie is an MIT graduate who also left a startup, but that’s probably where the similarities between these two candidates end. Massie is a self-proclaimed constitutional conservative.
There is a gigantic fundraising gap between the two facing off in November’s general election. Massie has raised $841,000 through June. Lehman raised $160,000 in the same time frame.
