World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has often been at the center of controversy, whether for his behavior on the court or his actions off court. His recent photos with controversial serviceman Milan Jolovic and Serbian politician Milorad Dodik, taken at a wedding in Bosnia, have sparked yet another storm.

Djokovic has been out of the pitch since losing the 2021 US Open final to Daniil Medvedev last week. Rather, he spent time with his family and friends, while traveling to Bosnia and Herzegovina to visit the pyramids of Visoko.

It was during this same trip that Novak Djokovic was photographed at the wedding of judoka Nemanja Majdov, a gold medalist at the judo championships. The Serb was seen having dinner with Jolovic and Dodik at the event.

World No.1 tennis player Novak Djokovic has spent the last few days hanging out with a former henchman of convicted genocidaire Ratko Mladic, and contemporary genocide denier and secessionist Milorad Dodik. Let’s see how many “Nole” referrals lose as a result. https://t.co/lnVhMMwV3U

Political scientist Jasmin Mujanovic has written a detailed discussion thread on the photos and their implications, while criticizing the fact that Novak Djokovic is not losing any sponsors despite his questionable business.

“World No.1 tennis player Novak Djokovic has spent the last few days hanging out with a former underling of convicted genocidal man Ratko Mladic, and contemporary genocide denier and secessionist Milorad Dodik. Let’s see how many ‘Nole’ sponsorships loses as a result, “Mujanovic wrote.

“The answer is zero because denial of the Bosnian genocide and / or association with those involved in so much (including the actual murders) earns you Nobel Prizes and lectures, not social ostracism,” a- he added. “For those who matter, 0 is also the number of sponsors he lost for posing with a brand of alcohol named after WWII Nazi collaborator Draza Mihailovic, Karadzic etc.”

Novak Djokovic was also seen performing with Milorad Dodik at the event, the video of which can be viewed below:

Milan Jolovic is a former leader of the Serbian paramilitary unit Drina Wolves, known to have played an important role in the persecution of Muslims in Srebrenica in the early 1900s. Milorad Dodik, meanwhile, has publicly denied that the Srebrenica genocide never took place, despite the fact that it was considered as such by official international bodies.

According to the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, more than 100,000 people were killed during the Bosnian War in the 1990s, and the Srebrenica massacre was a significant part of this tragedy.

Social media fans question Novak Djokovic for mingling with Milan Jolovic and Milorad Dodik

Many fans and Twitter experts seemed disappointed with Novak Djokovic after the photos were posted. They questioned Djokovic’s beliefs and thoughts, with some even calling on his sponsors to let him go.

Some Djokovic fans have argued that he is only attending a wedding and has given no indication that he supports either Jolovic or Dodik’s views. Others, however, have argued that the world No.1 should have made more sense than being seen in the company of people with such a controversial past.

“Should have retweeted this earlier, but it’s ridiculous and either a startling disregard for human atrocities or a lack of attention to suffering (assuming Djokovic knows, and given his resume of reckless actions I’m kind of inclined to think he doesn’t know it.). Inexcusable anyway, “one fan wrote on Twitter.

I should have retweeted this earlier, but it’s ridiculous and either a surprising disregard for human atrocities or a lack of concern for suffering (assuming Djokovic knows this, and given his resume of reckless actions , I’m kind of inclined to think he doesn’t know). Inexcusable despite everything twitter.com/jasminmuj/stat…

“No moral compass at all,” tweeted another.

Here are some of the other tweets in response to the photos of Novak Djokovic:

Healing pyramids, gurus, antivaxx, pro war crimes.

words cannot describe the anger i feel rn twitter.com/jasminmuj/stat…

I don’t know if we can start explaining this on twitter. just know that it is impossible to sit next to Dodik and not be aware of what he has done and what he represents.

“Genocide denier” may be too vague to capture, so please search for “Srebrenica massacre” and let it penetrate for you. twitter.com/JasminMuj/stat…
