Newsmax host Greg Kelly rips ‘career politician’ Ron DeSantis on potential 2024 run against Donald Trump

Newsmax’s top-rated host Greg Kelly warned Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis Friday night: Don’t face Donald Trump for the presidency in 2024.

The primetime star’s statement comes more than two years before the 2024 general election and months before the 2022 midterms, as behind the scenes Republican Party lieutenants mull over potential presidential candidates of the GOP 2024.

“Governor Ron DeSantis. He’s amazing, so talented, so smart, with an unlimited political future. I want him to be president one day,” Kelly began her Friday night show as a graphic appeared on screen reading, “Not yet, Ron.” “I think it’s almost guaranteed, but I’d rather not see him racing in 2024.”

Kelly’s message comes as Trumpworld does not know precisely when a Trump 2024 campaign announcement could arrive. The New York Times reported Friday that Trump could announce his candidacy “unusually early”, and the news may not come at a rally but on social media.

After airing a Florida governor highlights reel aimed at reporters, Kelly gave the eulogy before moving on to the hunt.

“Let’s face it, though, he borrows a lot from Donald Trump’s style, agenda and policies, and that’s fine,” he said. “That’s great, but I’m hearing more and more from Republicans. “Well, you know, Donald Trump has all that baggage, and it’s time for a new face.” Do not fall for this argument!

Kelly then dug in, arguing that, unlike Trump, DeSantis could be considered a “career politician.”

“Let’s see, he is forty-three now, on Election Day in November 2024 he would be forty-five. Now, here’s the thing. That makes him, what, three decades younger than then-President Trump. I’m not saying it’s a good thing, I’m saying he has a lot of time to move on, but not right now, and there are some things he needs to clean up,” the Newsmax host said. during prime time. “Just a little.”

The Newsmax host added that in 2018 he thought DeSantis should have easily beaten then-Democratic candidate Andrew Gilliam. Yet instead, he said DeSantis was “nervous” and “agitated” during a debate.

“I think that he [DeSantis] we have to work on that,” he added.

Additionally, Kelly referred to DeSantis as a wannabe Trump clone.

“Obviously he [DeSantis] studied President Trump very, very carefully. You can kind of see it in this photo at Mar-a-Lago. I mean, they’re very similar, and I think DeSantis inhaled so much Donald Trump,” Kelly said. “The agenda, the style, it’s all Trump.”

“He [Trump] changed everything, changed everything, and I think he can change it again,” the host concluded. “Here’s an idea, although constitutionally it may be complicated, Trump [and] DeSantis, on the same ticket?

Elsewhere in Trumpworld, longtime Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway has found her way back into the former president’s heart, despite the former president publicly slamming her a month ago amid talks over 2024 increase.

“I have a really good relationship with Kellyanne,” Trump told The Daily Beast on Friday night.
