Avondale Estates City Commission Candidates to Appear on Decaturish – Decaturish Twitch Forum

Avondale Estates, Georgia – Decaturish.com will host a Twitch Forum for Avondale Estates City Commission Candidates on Monday, September 20.

And if you want to ask questions on topics that interest you, you will have the opportunity to do so during the forum.

The forum starts at 6 p.m. and will be streamed live via Decaturish.com’s Twitch channel, which you can watch by clicking here. The forum will be recorded and uploaded to the Decaturish YouTube channel, which you can find by clicking here.

The election is November 2 and early voting begins October 12. Two seats on the municipal commission will be on the ballot in November. Commissioners are all elected in general, not for specific districts. Three candidates are running for the two seats. The winners will be the two candidates who get the most votes.

The candidates running this year are:

– Lisa Shortell (incumbent)

– Lionel Laratte (Holder)

– Ricardo Israel Korn

During the forum, members of the public will be able to ask questions by creating a Twitch account and following the Decaturish Twitch channel. (To create an account, click the purple “Sign Up” button in the upper right corner of the Twitch website.) If you prefer to submit a question in advance, send an email to [email protected] and put “candidate questions” in the subject line.

Applicants will receive their Zoom link at 5:30 p.m. and must be in the room at 6:00 p.m. or the forum will start without them. Applicants are encouraged to secure a stable internet and a computer with a decent camera and microphone.

Opening statements: 3 minutes for each candidate

Questions answers : Each candidate will have 3 minutes to answer each question, with one minute responses as needed

If time permits and applicants agree in advance, applicants may be given the opportunity to ask a question at the end of the forum.

Closing statements: 2 minutes for each candidate

Voters in DeKalb County can request a mail-in ballot. The county will hold a municipal election on November 2, as well as a county-wide E-SPLOST vote for schools in DeKalb County.

To request a postal ballot:

– Visit the Georgia Secretary of State’s website: www.sos.ga.gov.

– Complete the postal vote request using the official state paper form or request a postal vote in writing. Use only blue or black ink.

Nominations can be mailed to the county election office and voters should use this address: DeKalb County Election Office, 4380 Memorial Drive, Decatur, GA 30032-1239.

Voters can send a postal vote request for multiple people living in the same household in the same envelope or email.

If a postal ballot is not sent to you, contact your county election office. You can still vote in person, either in advance or on polling day.

A request for a postal vote must be received 11 days before the election, which is October 22.

Pursuant to SB202, a new voting bill signed by Governor Brian Kemp in March, voter ID is required to apply for a postal ballot. Georgia driver’s license, Georgia voter card, US military ID, employee ID issued by a branch of the federal or state government, US passport, document Tribal ID or a document verifying a voter’s name and address, including a paycheck, utility bill, or bank statement – are accepted pieces of ID.

Voters can get free ID at the DeKalb County Elections Office at 4380 Memorial Drive in Decatur or at the following locations:

– August 25 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Doraville Marta station, 6000 New Peachtree Road, Doraville 30340.

– August 30 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Indian Creek Marta Station, 3901 Durham Park Road, Stone Mountain 30083.

– September 15 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Chamblee Marta station, 5200 New Peachtree Road, Chamblee 303041.

– September 14 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Kensington Marta station, 3505 Kensington Road, Decatur 30032.
